Commonwealth Games body looks forward to Delhi event

New Delhi : The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) Wednesday said it had pinned high hopes on the Indian capital for the Commonwealth Games 2010 and expected it to be a better host than Melbourne that had set a high bar.

Melbourne is now history. We look forward to the Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010 with high hopes, said CGF president Michael Fennell.

Fennell along with CGF vice president H.R.H. Tunku Imran and CEO Mike Hooper are in India to participate in the executive board meeting of the organising committee of the Commonwealth Games 2010.

Authorities are doing a lot of preparatory work and its seems quite satisfactory. I think the game will take the reputation of Delhi to a much higher level, he told reporters after the meeting.

We have discussed issue like electricity, water, road, transport and hospital services. I think authorities must keep in mind the local architecture while developing world-class venues. The after-use benefit should be kept in mind, Fennell told IANS.
