New Delhi and Washington Begins Talk On Bilateral Nuclear Cooperation

New Delhi, India (AHN) - On Monday, India and United States began talks on bilateral civilian nuclear cooperation agreement in New Delhi.

According to AIR, India is likely to emphasize on the import of nuclear fuel beyond its immediate nuclear reactor requirements, with an aim to have strategic reserves of such fuel.

India and the US exchanged drafts of the agreement when Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran met US Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns in London.

US lawmakers plan Delhi visit over nuke deal

Repub-lican House leader Dennis Hastert and other lawmakers announced plans to visit India to discuss a controversial bilateral nuclear deal made in March. Hastert will head the eight-member group, which plans to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi during the trip starting today. “The delegation will discuss the recent initiatives between the two countries, including the importance of civil nuclear co-operation initiatives in strengthening the international non-proliferation system,” Hasterts office said in a statement on Friday. Republican Senator Charles Hagel also announced travel plans to India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

India signs UN treaty against nuclear terrorism

NEW DELHI : India has signed a UN-sponsored global treaty on preventing nuclear terrorism, an official said Wednesday. India signed the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism on Monday at the United Nations, said Navtej Sarna, a spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs. The treaty, which makes it a crime to damage a nuclear facility or possess radioactive material or weapons with the intention of committing a terrorist act, was adopted by the UN General Assembly in April 2005. It has already been signed by some 105 countries, including the United States, Russia and France.

Delhi, Moscow to expand bilateral cooperation

MOSCOW: The capital regions of India and Russia on Thursday agreed to closely cooperate in infrastructural development and advanced medical services and enhance the youth exchanges between them. Delhi, Dhaka to resolve trade tariffs issue

DHAKA: Bangladesh and India have decided to examine non-tariff and para-tariff barriers (NTBs), and prepare a list of other barriers that hinder their trade prospects . The Commerce Ministers of India and Bangladesh, after a meeting on bilateral trade here, also decided to make a ministerial-level visit to the India-Bangladesh main trade facilitation hub — the Benapole-Petrapole — for eliminating infrastructural and other impediments there.
