Jazeera Airways launches flights to Mumbai, Delhi

Kuwaits new budget carrier Jazeera Airways on Monday launched flights to Mumbai and Delhi, planning to increase the number of destinations in the country in the near future.

Jazeera, which is the first private airline in West Asia, is competing with the state-owned Kuwait Airways and has started its initial operations with a quota of 1300 seats each week.

It would be operating three and six flights each week to Delhi and Mumbai respectively, its Chairman and CEO Marwan Boodai told reporters.

The airline, which now has three Airbus A-320s, would add another by this weekend and one more in the next six months, he said, adding that Jazeera had already placed firm orders for ten A-320s with options for another six.

NEW DELHI: The torrential rains in Mumbai over the past two days affected air traffic at Delhi airport on Tuesday and also delayed arrival of a couple of trains from the Maharashtra Capital. Wind, dust storm stall air traffic in Delhi

NEW DELHI: High-speed winds and dust storm blocked air traffic at the Indira Gandhi International airport here on Wednesday evening as all flights were delayed by 30 minutes to an hour. While outgoing flights were delayed due to the wind, incoming flights were not being allowed to land as the crosswind was dangerous for take-offs and landing, airport sources said. Several incoming flights were diverted causing delays in departures, they said, adding the situation was being monitored.

Air services from Delhi return to normal

Air services from Delhi, which were disrupted due to heightened security measures, returned to normal with most flights on Friday morning taking off on time. The arrivals were also generally on time and there was no delay on account of additional security measures, airport sources said. The delays on Thursday were primarily caused by heightened security following the Mumbai blasts and the malfunctioning of an X-Ray machine at the terminal catering to private domestic carriers.
