ID cards needed for Delhi cyber cafes

NEW DELHI: After a spate of ‘threatening’ emails, the Delhi Police has prohibited the use of cyber cafes by persons without photo identity cards, for two months starting July 25.

The order was issued by Police Commissioner K K Paul, saying it had been noticed that anti-social elements were using such facilities, especially email, to mislead security agencies, create panic in the public, endanger the security of important personalities and government institutions and affect State security.

Delhi government nod to mothers name in documents

In a revolutionary step towards womens empowerment, the Delhi government on Tuesday gave its nod to include the name of mothers in all official documents and certificates released by different departments. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting. Officials said that henceforth, voters identity cards, driving licenses, ration cards, school certificates, birth and death certificates and disability certificates would include the mothers name. New Delhi - The Central Zoo Authority has proposed restructuring the Delhi zoological park in a move that may see the involvement of corporates, Environment Secretary Prodipto Ghosh said here Tuesday. An autonomous body, the Central Zoo Authority has over the last few years derecognised 90 zoos in the country for shortcomings on various counts, mostly due to lack of resources. The Central Zoo Authority is looking at various measures to raise resources including setting up of a national zoo research centre and improve visitor facilitation.
