Health Precautions
Tourists coming to India via Africa and South America or any other yellow fever infected areas must have yellow fever vaccination certificates.
Water used for drinking, brushing teeth or making ice should have first been boiled or otherwise sterilized.
Milk is unpasteurised and should be boiled. Powdered or tinned milk is available and is advised, but make sure that it is reconstituted with pure water.
Only eat well cooked meat and fish, preferably served hot. Pork, salad and mayonnaise may carry increased risk. Vegetables should be cooked and fruit peeled.
If trekking or mountaineering, specialized clothing should be worn and necessary equipment used. Take adequate precautions against Altitude Sickness
Always buy beverages and juices of good brand and check the seal and expiry date before buying.
Always peel your own fruit and vegetables, stay clear of raw vegetables salads, raw sugarcane or (a big cause of amoebic dysentery) iced cane-juice.
