Dispur battle in Delhi
Guwahati : Smug in the belief that the Congress will retain power, aspirants to the chief ministership are making a beeline for New Delhi in their eagerness to be noticed by the high command and remain in contention.
It has become difficult to keep track of who is coming and who is going, a source said.
PCC chief Bhubaneswar Kalita is just back from the capital, while the so-called dark horses in the race — Debananda Konwar, Anjan Dutta and Sarat Barkataki — are still there. Just as eager to be seen and heard by the high command, chief minister Tarun Gogoi reached New Delhi on Friday.
Senior party leader Imran Shah is also planning to take a delegation to the high command to ask for a chief minister acceptable to the minorities.
