The International Trade Fair: Trade and Handicraft fairs are a common phenomenon in Delhi. Some of the major events held here include the annual 13-day long International Trade Fair that begins on 14th November. This trade fair is held at the Pragati Maidan. This fair is a major event for the Business community. Corporate houses from all over the world come in this fair and business deal are finalised in a big way. This fair is also a major tourist attraction and lakhs of people visit the fair which ends after thirteen days.

Delhi Book Fair: The Delhi Book fair is the largest fair in the country, in terms of size as well as on the economic side. It has a great contribution in supporting the growth of the neighboring markets. There are over 12000 publishers and 90, 000 titles every year in more than about 18 languages. This book fair in Delhi is visited by national and international publishers, distributors, librarians, researchers as well as people like academicians, teachers and students, writers and book lovers. Thousands of books are sold in the 9 days of the fair and there are foreign delegates

Surajkund Crafts Mela

Surajkund Crafts Mela: Surajkund Crafts Mela is one of the largest crafts fair in India that is held every year in the Surajkund district of Haryana. The fair is truly the most popular among all fairs and festivals in Haryana and attracts visitors in large numbers from all parts of the country. Even several tourists from the world over arrive at the Surajkund Crafts Mela every year to witness the glorious culture and heritage of India. Surajkund is a small ancient kund (pond) in Haryana on the outskirts of Delhi. This picturesque place is the venue for the annual Handicrafts fair.

WTO mini ministerial meet soon: Nath

Commerce Minister Kamal Nath is back in India after talks trade talks at Geneva ended in a deadlock as US and EU refused to cut trade distorting subsidies and tariffs. The minister however said that talks will continue and a mini ministerial attended by trade ministers of some key countries may be held by the end of this month. But with negotiating positions being very divergent, a common ground looks increasingly difficult to achieve. I hope that there is another meeting by the end of this month, said Nath on his arrival.

Delhi, Dhaka to resolve trade tariffs issue

DHAKA: Bangladesh and India have decided to examine non-tariff and para-tariff barriers (NTBs), and prepare a list of other barriers that hinder their trade prospects . The Commerce Ministers of India and Bangladesh, after a meeting on bilateral trade here, also decided to make a ministerial-level visit to the India-Bangladesh main trade facilitation hub — the Benapole-Petrapole — for eliminating infrastructural and other impediments there. It was decided that the Commerce ministers of the two countries would meet in Benapole and Petropole landport on June 19 and 21 to review the findings of the task force. We will meet soon

Pragati Maidan
