Minimal load-shedding in Delhi as power consumption dips

New Delhi : The national capital got some respite from the tormenting power outages today as there was negligible loadshedding in the city due to a sharp decrease in electricity demand.

Reeling under a severe electricity shortage, resulting in power cuts and blackouts for the last several days, residents of the city heaved a sigh of relief as there was only 18 mw loadshedding throughout the day.

There was a significant dip in power demand in the city because offices were closed today due to Sunday, a transco official said.

The peak power demand was 3059 mw today as compared to 3426 mw yesterday, the highest of the season so far was on May 5 when the demand was 3475 mw, the official said.

There is also good news as the city will be getting 200 mw power from neighbouring Himachal Pradesh from tomorrow. We are already getting 109 mw from Himachal, he added.
