English lessons for New Delhi cabbies

New Delhis taxi drivers will be getting a crash course in English language.

In a bid to help foreigners find their way around the city, ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games that New Delhi will host, New Delhis taxi drivers will be getting a crash course in English language.

Transport authorities will require cab and rickshaw drivers to take compulsory English classes starting July, The Times of India newspaper reported on Monday.

20-year-old girl commits suicide in west Delhi

A college-girl in west Delhi on Thursday committed suicide a day before her English exam, police said. Heena Singh, 20, who hanged herself in her Uttam Nagar home, was a second year BA (bachelor of arts degree) student at the Delhi Universitys School of Correspondence Studies, the police said. Upon discovering her body, family members rushed her to the Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital, where she was declared dead.
