New Delhi: WITH Uttar Pradesh failing to provide water to the Capital yet again, the Delhi government today approached the Centre for immediate intervention to tackle the water crisis.
We are making all efforts to get water. Even UP has not refused to give water to us. I spoke to the Union Power Ministry again to release water from Tehri dam, said Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
She said UP had run out of excuses for not releasing water to Delhi since there was enough water in the Tehri dam.

HYDERABAD: Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy is visiting New Delhi on Monday to meet Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar for discussion on the Central package for districts affected by farmer suicides and lifting of maize stocks in the State.
A press release issued by Mr. Reddys office here on Saturday said he would seek Central assistance to immediately dispose off the stocks.
In a letter to Mr. Pawar, he urged the Centre to issue orders for the disposal of maize by providing 2 lakh tonnes to the States poultry industry.

New Delhi : In the wake of Supreme Court expressing unhappiness over the new law for stopping sealings and demolitions, Delhi Congress leaders on Monday discussed the issue at a meeting of the coordination committee of the party, which also saw concern being expressed over the water and power situation in the capital.
The meeting, chaired by AICC General Secretary in-charge of Delhi Ashok Gehlot, had Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken briefing the local leaders on the measures being taken by the Centre on the twin issues of demolitions and sealings, party sources said.

New Delhi: An engineer working with Delhi Metro was on Thursday died after being hit by a train while he was carrying out repair work between Shahdara and Welcome stations.
The incident took place around 1 pm when two Metro engineers were repairing signal cables. Both were hit. They were immediately rushed to the nearby GTB Hospital at Shahdara where 27-year-old Indermohan Srivastava, a section engineer, was declared brought dead while 22-year-old Purushottam Priyadarshi, a junior engineer, was admitted with a fracture in his right arm, a DMRC release said.
