Delhi traders to meet CM to press demand of power, water restoration

New Delhi : Traders in the National Capital will meet Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today to press for their demands to take steps to restore electricity and water connections in shops and offices which were disconnected during the MCD sealing drive.

They also asked the civic body to de-seal all commercial establishments so that normal trading activities can be resumed in the wake of a central notification putting a one year moratorium on the court-ordered sealing drive.

The Confederation of All India Traders at a meeting here decided to conduct a door-to-door survey to understand the basic difficulties faced by traders and will submit a report in this regard to the government, a statement by CAIT said.

The Centre had notified a bill seeking immediate halt to the demolition and sealing drive against illegal structures in the capital for a period of one year.

The Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Act 2006 directs local authorities to stop the demolition and sealing drive going on in the capital as per the orders of the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court respectively.
